Technical Information
Magpie Video uses the latest innovations in video recording and editing to give the finished product a professional look and crystal-clear quality.
Filming takes place on the Canon XLIs Mini DV digital camcorder - a machine capable of incredible performance - it delivers more than 500 lines of horizontal resolution (nearly a 25% improvement in picture quality over the best analogue formats). The Canon boasts a 16x optical (32x digital) zoom capability and its digital format also enables us to produce high-quality stills from video.
Editing is carried out using the amazing Casablanca edit system, a non-linear single box computerised editing machine which provides these facilities:
Video editing system
Video effects machine
Video titler
Audio mixing
All filmed material is copied from the camera onto the hard drive of the Casablanca, then the post-production work (titling, transitions, audio mixing etc.) is carried out digitally within the system before finally being recorded onto the video tape and DVD. It is this method of video filming and editing which allows us to avoid any loss in quality on your special recording.
